PHP at OSCON 2005
23 May 2005The selections have been made for the O'Reilly Open Source Convention 2005 (US), and there are many great PHP talks to choose from. This was only my second year on the selection committee, but I think this had to be one of the toughest years. There were 600 proposals for 150 slots, and the PHP track seemed particularly strong.
PHP tutorials that made the cut:
- Laying hands on PHP Objects (Marcus Boerger)
- Learning PHP 5 (David Sklar)
- PHP Security (Chris Shiflett)
- PHP/MySQL Best Practices (Luke Welling and Laura Thomson)
PHP sessions that made the cut:
- Accelerating PHP Applications (Ilia Alshanetsky)
- An Introduction to ext/mysqli: Using MySQL 5 with PHP 5 (Zak Greant)
- Building Liquid Web Applications with Remote Scripting (Terry Chay)
- Building PHP Applications with DBXML (George Schlossnagle)
- Easy eBay Web Services with PHP 5 and Services_Ebay (Adam Trachtenberg)
- PDO: PHP Data Objects (Wez Furlong)
- PHP and Unicode: A Love At Fifth Sight (Andrei Zmievski)
- PHP is Ready for Big Business (Andi Gutmans)
- PHP Security Briefing (Chris Shiflett)
- Redefining Web Interfaces, with PHP 5, Javascript and JPSpan (David Uhlman)
- State of PHP (Rasmus Lerdorf)
- Using XSLT in PHP5 (Joyce Park)
OSCON is returning to Portland, but the venue has changed to the Oregon Convention Center, and it is to be held during the first week of August rather than the last week of July. This has always been my favorite conference, but PHP Quebec is going to be tough to beat this year.
I hope to see you there!
Update: Another PHP session has been added to the lineup: Migrating from PHP 4 to PHP 5 (John Coggeshall).
